Macbeth And Power Essays - English-language Films,

Macbeth And Power The battle for force and control in Shakespear's Macbeth is apparent from the starting as Macbeth endeavors to be delegated by some coincidence and Lady Macbeth lean towards a marginally faster increasingly rough methodology. Macbeth starts the play with no force be that as it may, with a modest quantity of the control, thus Lady Macbeth had the force and a large portion of the control. As they quietly fight for power over their family what's more, their future Macbeth murders with the goal for them to progress in social standing. It was Lady Macbeth's craving for power over her better half that set him on his course of decimation and murder. Shakespeare depicts Lady Macbeth as a heartless, overwhelming lady who rules her significant other and his activities. Woman Macbeth causes Macbeth's to do what she decides to be best for him by bringing down his confidence with the goal that he should do what she demands with the goal for him to pick up his sense of pride back. She expresses such things as, When you durst do it, at that point you [will be] a man (1.7.49). It is Lady Macbeth who thinks of the arrangement to murder Duncan, since she realizes that Macbeth could never submit such a follow up on his own without her pushing him to in light of the fact that Macbeth's inclination is excessively full o' the milk of human generosity/To get the closest way (1.5.15,16). She builds up the arrangement and sorts out the subtleties while anticipating that Macbeth should just follow her requests. This becomes apparent when she says to him, You will put/This night's extraordinary business into my dispatch(1.5.66,67) and Leave all the rest to me(1.5.72). She plans to hold him under her control by settling on choices for him and not permitting him to have an independent mind. At the point when Macbeth gets hesitant about her arrangement to execute Duncan, she names him a defeatist when she says, Workmanship thou afeard/To be the equivalent in thine own demonstration and valor/As thou workmanship in want (1.7.39,41). Macbeth safeguards himself by clarifying that he is doing everything that could possibly be anticipated from a man and on the off chance that he does all the more at that point no man will he be, she asserts that no ?genuine' man would down furthermore, decline to finish a demonstration he had consented to. All things considered on the off chance that she had sworn, as Macbeth needs to executing Duncan, she would, While [her baby] was grinning in [her] face,/Have pluck'd [her] areola from his boneless gums,/ Furthermore, dash'd [it's] cerebrums out (1.7.54-9). This shows a greater amount of her abhorrent side and furthermore names her as even more a man then Macbeth may be. This alongside other brutally expressed words at last persuades Macbeth to murder Duncan thus his executing binge starts. When Macbeth finishes his significant other's arrangement to kill the lord he is filled promptly with blame, not at all like his better half who says, A little water frees us from this deed (2.2.67). After his first homicide Macbeth starts to feel a feeling of strengthening in his own life and he begins to assume responsibility for his own activities. The principal proof of this is when Macbeth murders Duncan's groomsmen without Lady Macbeth's authorization or assent. After finding her spouses spontaneous homicides Lady Macbeth is stunned to the point that she blacks out. Macbeth no longer needs Lady Macbeth to settle on his choices for him, he has picked up the force and control, but since she made him execute Duncan he would now be able to slaughter more promptly than he could have without her. This is clear as he designs the homicide of Banquo and Fleance and recruits the killers himself without feeling any blame or on the other hand counseling his better half by any stretch of the imagination. Truth be told, Lady Macbeth urges him to overlook what has occurred before and proceed onward. She says to him, What's done is done(3.2.12), You should leave this(3.2.35). Macbeth, in any case, with his new feeling of control, will not submit to her order. He goes on with his arrangements to execute Banquo and later chooses to slaughter Macduff's family in the following lines; The very firstlings of my heart will be The firstlings of my hand. Furthermore, even now, To crown my considerations with acts, be it thought and done; The manor of Macduff I will amaze; Seize upon Fife; provide for the edge of the blade His significant other, his darlings, and every single disastrous soul That follow him in his line.(4.1.147,153) Macbeth can slaughter men of his own size as well as ladies and little youngsters, which shows how far he has come since Lady Macbeth's ?little' push to murder

Pollan’s final position on â€Å"big† organic is somewhat unclear. He clearly perceives substantial flaws in the system, such as the fact that it is as non†sustainable as typical industrial food production, but at the same time he seems to argue that it is at least a step in the right direction. Pollanà ¢â‚¬â„¢s position on â€Å"small† organic is much less equivocal. He spends a substantial section of the book detailing his visit to a small organic â€Å"grass† farm. Although Pollan does his best to maintain a journalistic, neutral view throughout the book, it is clear that he was captivated by the work being done by the grass farmers. Pollan shows that the most important crop to these farmers is in fact the numerous varieties of grass, which form the foundation of the life cycle on the farm. These farmers work to farm in a sustainable, natural way that closely resembles the symbiosis of nature. In this section, Pollan provides a fascinating look at the evolved relationships between different species of plants and animals, and how these relationships can be utilized to create a sustainable farming system. Although Pollan is clearly enamored with such â€Å"small† grass†based farming, he also recognizes the near impossibility of implementing suc h farming on a large scale. The post–Civil War South has been called the New South. In what ways did it succeed in reinventing itself? In what ways did it fail? * * The ways that the south reinvented itself was through attempts in rebuilding their far ms and negotiating new labor agreements with their former slaves. This method failed by the majority of southern land owners being to prideful or greedy to pay decent wages of the time. The south also became known for their railway system and is now the standard for development. The railway system brought urban life to the south through city growth and the growth of the iron industry. The southern people used their iron industry as their main competing industry with the northern. In these industries it was uncommon for black southerners to be allowed to work in the factories. Poor whites would be hired over blacks in the rail yards as well. The south being as picky to who they hired only bettered their communities rather than those of both black and white communities. These changes brought our country into an era of segregation. With segregation starting in the following years after the civil war it kept the south from truly catching up to the northern culture and industry because of their hate. Communication in health care setting Essays

Communication in health care setting Essays Communication in health care setting Paper Communication in health care setting Paper Within any health and social care setting, interpersonal communication is vital between service provider and service user. During the process of interpersonal communication, there is always a sender, which sends a message across and a receiver on the opposite end to give feedback/reply. It was mentioned by Podmoroff (2013) that interpersonal communication skills are learned and can be improved. There are many methods and techniques that can be carried out to deliver appropriate interpersonal communications between individuals. Effective interpersonal communication skills between health care provider and patient is an important element for improving patient satisfaction, treatment compliance, and health outcomes (reference manual,1999) relating it back to the case study regarding Anna, it shows that there was poor and inappropriate interpersonal communication skills being demonstrated by the Dr, this resulted to incorrect treatment; leaving the service users disappointed, unhappy and unsatisfied with the service provided. For example, proper training can be delivered to service providers / staff every year, this would enhance skills already obtained, and improve services given to service users. Research indicates health counseling and education, as well as provider-patient interactions and communication, can improve interpersonal communication greatly. (Fallowfield 1998) Within any health and social care environment, there are many strategies put into place to support a number of servicer users; which cater to specific communication needs. These communication needs apply to those who are visually impaired, have the inability to speak or have hearing loss to name a few. In an healthcare environment, specific services are available for each specific need, for example some service centers provide language aids i.e. Braille for the blind. Other services provided are signing, Makaton; advocacy, interpretation, translation ( Edexcel,2010) which all cater to individuals with specific communication needs. In many health and social care setting there are a variety of service users who are all from different ethnic background and groups. Within todays society cultural norms and values are respected within society, as well as religion which is a sensitive factor and is key within the health care setting. Strong values and beliefs is an aspect of health care setting. For instance a muslim service user, request for halal meals as thats what the religion  require, it is only fair for the hospital or service provider to be able to provide the service user with their choice. Another influential factor is language some service user are unable to communicate effectively in the native language (english in this case), which may eventually lead to complications in putting forward feelings which normally ends up in breach of communication with health care provider / professional. Kingoloj (2013), mentioned in an article that The Department of Health ensures that when information is provided to the service users in leaflet form, that it is imperative to be distributed and be readily available in different language; in order to aid a vast majority. Additionally, the National Health Service (NHS) is known to provide translators if needed, this improved service delivered to clients. Other factors which influences the communication process within a health and social care environment include: age, sexuality, ethnicity, gender, education and social class.

International Business Culture and Diversity Case Study

International Business Culture and Diversity - Case Study Example Work behaviors vary from one culture to another. Even the organizational culture in place in a multinational company cannot totally dispel the influence of national culture. Organizational culture, in fact, has been known to blow up the members' national culture and gives emphasis to it In the light of the foregoing, culture does figure importantly in the day-to-day affairs of a company, whether or not it is actively into transactions that involve importing or exporting. Even companies that cater purely to local markets are confronted by cultural diversity amongst their employees, their suppliers, their clients, and other people that they do business with.At the onset of globalization, it was believed to bring about some sort of similarity, if not uniformity, of the world's cultures with one another. Although globalization did bring about an awakening to millions of people who used to think that life in their country is almost all there is to living in this world, it failed to make p eople of different races embrace a new culture that can be said to represent all the people of the world. In fact, it is when people of different cultures get together that their distinct traits, beliefs and habits become their source of identity, security and confidence. And so it was in the case of Ray Cisneros, who flew from Los Angeles to Buenos Aires to close a business deal. While his bosses believed him to be the best choice as the company representative because of his culture - his Hispanic background and capability to speak in Spanish - and his drive to excel, he found himself having to cope with issues that basically originated from the culture of the other party, the Argentinean executives. Cross-Cultural Differences Author Wederspahn names two levels that people of two or more different cultures go through before coming to the point when they are able to use the uniqueness of their individual cultures for the good of their common cause. The first level is where cultural dominance reigns. Each party would try to influence the other based on nothing but just culture. In this level, neither party acknowledges that there are cultural differences to be considered; each party would assume that the other will submit to his culture. (1989) Thus, Ray Cisneros flew to Buenos Aires with intentions of doing his presentation shortly after his arrival and with the belief that the Argentinean executives would agree to stick to his planned schedule. Meanwhile, the Argentinean executives arranged to let Ray Cisneros go sightseeing during his first days in Buenos Aires and then to meet him two days later. They were two parties from two distinct cultures, and each one naturally assumed that the other would agree to the designed schedule. This scenario illustrates the first level where cultural dominance is the name of the game. The second level brings in cultural compromise and the synergy that is achieved through it. In this level, the concerned parties learn to meet halfway to come up with alternatives that would be mutually beneficial. This can be attained even with the existence of cultural differences; it is a matter of acknowledging such differences and focusing more on common values and priorities. (Wederspahn 1989) This second level would ideally bring about a fruitful ending to the uncomfortable initial part of the negotiations between Ray Cisneros and the Argentinean executives. In this level, both parties would look beyond their individual feelings, reservations, plans, intentions and hopes for the meetings that are to be held and would instead dwell on the success and benefits that can be generated for both sides by a well-concluded discourse. The motives, plans, moods and behavior of Ray Cisneros and the Argentinean executives could be traced to the general characteristics of their respective cultures. Indeed, adequate information on the American culture and the Argentine

Health care career that may experience a lot of turnover and has Essay

Health care career that may experience a lot of turnover and has difficutly retaining people - Essay Example On further investigation it was found that the physicians offices saw the longest tenure of 1.57 years compared to only 0.97 years in the nursing care facilities. Difficulty faced by nurses in the job was the major reason given by them. When nurses were asked about the issues they face in their jobs, they gave several reasons but some of the prominent ones were lack of advancement opportunities, work overload, poor salary, too few staff, and poor organizational culture. Lack of training, poor fit with boss, and not enough access to technology were also some of the other reasons mentioned by them. Work load and too few staff are the issues that are greatly related and can be addressed by recruiting adequate staff, as a long term solution, so that nurses do not have to borne undue pressures that eventually cause burn out and force them to leave the organization. Recruiting sufficient nurses would automatically lessen the workload on each nurse to a reasonable level improving working environment substantially. Regarding the other issues raised by the nurses, the organization needs to have an effective retention policy at place. Motivation and the recognition are the two primary pillars of any retention policy. McConnell (2010) argues that an effective reward system must be in place so that nurses feel motivated. Even suitable incentive schemes must be launched to recognize the good job done by them. From the behavioral view point, nurses must be rewarded suitably when the patients appreciate and give them good feedback at the time of their discharge. Reward system and recognition cannot replace the generous pay scale necessary to retain the good and efficient nurse; nevertheless, they work like a great motivator for the nurses. It is necessary that the supervisor or manager looks at the issue in its entirety so as to eliminate the root causes that are behind high turnover of the

Love Emerson Transcendentalist

Love Emerson Transcendentalist The broken-hearted can only be mended by love just as only love can change a mans heart; enemies can become friends only through love just as only love can soften the hardest of hearts. In this way, Emerson, as a transcendentalist, portrays love as being a necessity in life; every man wishes, desires, to be loved. For this reason, the world would benefit from showing love to everyone as it causes mankind to care for others, to encourage joy in others. It is something that comes from deep within the soul and if the world experienced more love, humanity would be willing to expand their mind to accept the differences in others. No matter how humans differ from each other, whether by color of skin, religion, or social status, they all deserve love. In â€Å"The Transcendentalist,† Emerson writes that human beings have a â€Å"great wish to be loved† (3). Every person wishes to be loved; they want to be desired and cared for. Erich Fromm describes love as the â€Å"only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence.† If everyone felt loved and also gave that love to everyone else, the world would be crime-free. Hate crimes, thefts, murders, and even suicides would not occur; it would be ridiculous to hurt the ones we love. People would see each other as equals—black, white, brown, red and yellow would be seen all the same as they are loved. There would be no need to prosecute those with different belief systems—the world would be willing to understand them because of the love they share; burglaries would not occur because the affluent would care enough to gi ve those less fortunate the money they needed; there would be no killing because no one wants to kill the ones they love; and there would be no suicides because they would be loved—and to be loved is a feeling that suppresses all depressed and melancholy feelings. Without love, the existence of humanity would be pointless, as â€Å"a life without love† (Emerson 4) is â€Å"an activity without an aim† (Emerson 4). Old or young, poor or rich, all mankind deserves to be loved. Love pours out from our spirits causing others to feel the happiness we bestow upon them. However this love only works if we love everyone and accept their differences. â€Å"When it [the soul] flows through his affection, it is love† (Over-soul 2). If the world allowed their souls to show, love would flow and affections would be shown. However, we cannot allow ourselves to get caught up with the differences of others but accept them for who they are. Emerson writes, â€Å"if you can love me for what I am, we shall be the happier† (Self-Reliance 6). If the world loved everyone for whom they are, color and religion pushed aside, happiness would come forth, bringing about even more feelings of affection. The world needs this love because everyone should have the opportunity to feel loved and to feel joy. If we let this love flow from within us, we have allowed others to be shown the love we feel for them. This causes them to feel pleasure at being loved, and makes them fo rget about their race and their religion. Without love humanity is nothing; we feel nothing and care about nothing. Even though in the world, there is love, it is important to show our love to others; we need to increase the amount of love in the world so that others feel accepted and welcomed. Transcendentalists believe in individuality and originality—instead of treating others differently because everyone else does, the world needs to rise above and love them just as they love themselves. This way we can treat everyone with the same respect and give them the love they deserve; the love that every man desires. Through love, we can change the world.

One Tear That Meant the World :: essays research papers

I have always enjoyed having a best friend that was male. Whether we were swimming, jogging, fishing, or just talking for hours, I never got bored. We balance one another. I will never forget the day I lost that all. The day my best friend left ended up touching me the most.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  When I stepped outside, the pavement felt like ice, yet the air had a warm breeze to it. It was a gorgeous August day. Not a single worry mingled in the air. The birds were chirping long, beautiful melodies. Melodies I had heard many mornings that summer. They sang when it was going to be a wondrous day. Nothing seemed wrong to anyone except to me. Today, my birthday, August first, my best friend was leaving for the Navy. He was going to serve our country. For six dreadful years, I’d have to live without him. The only communication would be a few cards and letters and one long distance call. This day reminded me of those long rainy days, the days where the clouds blocked out the suns bright rays of sunlight.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The clock finally struck four and it frightened me because the sweet sound of the clock seemed loud and harsh. It sounded kind of like I was in a horror movie. I dreaded walking across the street to say good bye to my dear friend, but I knew I had to go. As I walked across the street it seemed like a mile. My legs ached and my throat was dry. I could hear the pattering of my feet on the pavement and the thud of my heart racing about ninety miles a minute. I just wanted to run up to him and beg him to stay, but I knew I couldn’t do that. I finally walked up to him and started to cry. I cried as though I had lost someone close to me, but I hadn’t. There was a part of me that was dying. My heart was aching and I couldn’t stop it. I hugged him for five minutes, but it only seemed like seconds. My tears started to disappear. He let me know how much he’d miss me and how he couldn’t believe he was leaving. I could feel the tears starti ng to come again, but I kept them in. I knew there was something I wanted to say, but I couldn’t.

Art Appreciation Essay

Whatever form of art we see, its main characteristic is to please our senses. Art expresses the feelings of the artist that can be interpreted by us in various ways. This lesson will discuss the different forms of art, its elements and principles of art design that make our life more enriching. Objectives At the end of the lesson, you will be able to: 1. discuss the different forms of art; 2. distinguish the functions of art; and 3. reflect on the functions of art with regard to their personal contributions to the development of art. Topic Scope of Art There are different forms of art that affect our feelings and emotions. We may define art as a medium through which we express our thoughts, feelings and emotions. It is through art that we can reveal to the world our creativity that exists in our mind and also our deepest feelings. The artist or the doer of the art through his artwork tells a story and conveys a meaning with another human being indirectly but deeply felt. Art has a silent power to move our soul and enlighten our spirits as evidenced when we see displayed artworks elsewhere. Many civilizations are considered great because of their advancement in art. There are different forms of art. In this lesson, we consider these two classes: visual art and performing art. Visual art includes paintings, sculpture, literature, calligraphy, photography and architecture. 1 Manual Title MODULE OF INSTRUCTION Performing arts are all forms of dance, music, theater and films. Art can also be classified as fine art, commercial art, and applied art. Visual Arts Visual art can be explained as a form of art that uses any medium to represent the artist’s idea, emotion and imagination. They are those creations we can look at. Visual arts can be further classified as: Drawing –It is a representation of any form or object by hand. Painting – Paintings are classified according to the style in which they are made as well as the genre and main object of the painting. Still life, landscapes, seascapes, abstract and pop are the different types of painting genres that are popular among artists. Sculpture – Sculptures are also among the different forms of art that falls under visual art that are made in two ways, either chiselled or carved. Calligraphy – The art of writing letters in a manner that it looks visually appealing. It is a form of visual art that has great commercial value and is much sought after Photography – Photography is the art of producing an image of an object on a photographic film. The way the image is captured with the use of light differs from photographer to photographer. Performing Arts There are many forms of arts but the performing art is much appreciated and enjoyed by us – dance, music, films, theatre and drama. Artists that perform these are known as dancers for those who perform dance, musicians for music, actors for films, theatres and drama etc. 2 Manual Title MODULE OF INSTRUCTION Performing arts may be classified as: Dance – It is a non-verbal communication and movement of the body with the accompaniment of music which is delightful and harmonious that conveys the artist’s thoughts, feelings and emotions. Singing – This is an act of producing sound with the voice in a rhythmic manner that is pleasing to the ear. It is often accompanied by the use of musical instruments. Films and Theater – These are forms of art that use stories that capture our imagination. They are performed by artists in front of an audience. Music – It is one of the most admired form of art and is difficult to define. It is any harmonious sound from human voice or musical instrument. It has the power to change our mood, and lift our spirits and move our emotion Applied Art Applied art is a part of visual art that has practical application and functionality. Let us discuss the different types of applied art. Architecture – Architecture is a form of applied art that concerns with designing and building any construction. Fashion Design – Fashion design is the art of designing apparels that are aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. It involves working with different types of fabrics and patterns which are then designed into garments. Great fashion designs are illustrated by the uniqueness and perfection of created styles. Jewelry Design – Jewelry design is also a different form of art and it involves the design of complicated pieces of jewelry from metals, wood or plastic. Wood Crafts – Any object that is made with wood that is beautifully pleasing to the eye and is functional is called wood crafts. Furniture and decor items are examples of woodworking. 3 Manual Title MODULE OF INSTRUCTION Interior Design – The art of planning the design, layout and style of an architectural space, be it home or office is called as interior design. Home furnishings are examples of this. Fine Art Esaak(Arthistory. About. Com) said, Art knows no boundaries and the different art forms are always of help whenever we feel the need to stimulate our senses. Fine Arts are called fine arts because, only the â€Å"fine† people – those who did not do manual labor- studied them. Fine arts are those which have primarily to do with the imagination and taste, and are applied to the production of what is beautiful like painting, sculpture, music, theatre etc. Commercial Art Commercial art is a form of art that includes designing books, advertisements, signs, posters, and other displays to promote sale or acceptance of products, services, or ideas. It is really very confusing for us to distinguish the forms of art because some overlap. For example, some people classify painting as visual art, while others say it is â€Å"fine† art. It is also classified as commercial art because it is created for the purpose of generating sales and income. However, for us to have a common understanding about the arts, we rather consider the arts as visual or performing arts. Functions of Art Every art has definite functions as it satisfies particular needs. To the ordinary man, art may not have much function. For him, he finds art meaningful if it is useful and can serve the purpose of which it was designed. Evidently, architecture is an art that is directly functional because of the usefulness of the buildings that are constructed for a special purpose. In here, architecture allows the artist to express his compassion for beauty. In a building, the function of the building is very clear that it serves to shelter man from harm. Music is used entertain people, soothe their feelings, worship the gods and for rituals. Sculpture and paintings are used to narrate and commemorate events and portray people. Arts and crafts like jewelry, lamps, weapons, tools, ceramics, glassware, electronics, etc. are made for specific purposes.
